Spoked rolls out rider Readiness Score

Cycling training app, Spoked, has launched its first Readiness Score, designed to tell cyclists, at a glance, how ready they are to ride each day.

Available within the Spoked app from Tuesday, September 20, the readiness score is a top-line number generated from a rider’s personal recovery and health statistics.

Known for its personalised training, Spoked offers personal insights and flexibility to how people train – ‘with a strong focus on keeping it as simple as possible delivered via an app or API.’

After announcing the new feature via the company’s blog, founder Richard Lang spoke about what makes Spoked’s Readiness Score unique and how it will help riders.

“Most readiness scores don’t give you enough insight to inform how you should be training, but our model is different from the rest,” said Lang, who began designing Spoked in late 2016.

“With the Spoked readiness score, we’re highlighting each variable for our riders – based on the health data they input and their training data – so that they’re able to identify and improve a specific habit to maximise their on-the-bike performance.”

Spoked’s in-app health statistics – which users are encouraged to update daily – and training data, drive the generation of the score alongside personalised baselines and optimum benchmarks.

Lang continued “This means, just because you train hard it doesn’t mean your readiness score should drop like a lot of other scores out there. If it did, you would never be able to follow a periodised training plan.

“Our goal is very straightforward – to make personalised training simple – and this new readiness score is another positive step in that direction.”
