California born BornBound, now available in the USA and UK, pairs technical materials and sustainable construction methods to develop endurance sportswear.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, in collaboration with One Percent for the Planet, 1% of all UK generated revenue will be donated to Plastic Free North Devon, the new owner of the Croyde Ocean Triathlon, of which BornBound is a new official partner.
100% of profits from the race go to the environmental charity. The UK office for BornBound is based in North Devon and within the area of which the charity operates. The local region lies within a UNESCO Biosphere and is blessed with a mainly undeveloped coastline which the charity works hard to protect.
BornBound adds that it will be partnering with similar charities in each region in which it has a presence (currently USA and UK).
‘With sustainable performance at the fore, each item of triathlon and running wear under the BornBound banner has been tailored to encourage unencumbered movement, utilising the best technical materials available, whilst also adhering to high levels of environmental consciousness.’
Kyle Dagan, founder of BornBound, said “I am beyond excited to announce the launch of BornBound. We felt compelled to create a brand with the sole focus of allowing individuals to go after their personal journey.
“We see it as our responsibility to facilitate this by putting all our experience into making premium triathlon products, while we utilise and develop sustainable manufacturing techniques, fabrics, and materials.”
Run – Rekord
In the Rekord running collection, tees and singlets feature flat abrasion-free edged neck and arm openings, pleated raglan sleeves and heat welded seams at the neck, cuff and hem.
Rekord running shorts benefit from a semi split leg cut and a high stretch liner with anatomically positioned seams, for comfort down below and a high-quality elasticated waist with draw strings above. A low profile fold-over rear pocket stays tight when loaded, securing the contents when running.
Fast-dry and anti-perspiration treatments are employed throughout, to shed any unnecessary moisture.
Triathlon – Skärvatten
The triathlon-specific range is included under the Skärvatten (‘cutting water’) collection. A tri short and sleeveless tri top feature, alongside a maximum performance short sleeve tri suit.
Tri apparel is equipped with temperature regulating, hydrophobic, fast dry, UPF and Coldblack treatments and fabrics available from the likes of Payen, Eschler and MITI. This includes MITI’s Tavolara 180 TRIACTION and Tri-Force materials.
Quick-drying chamois pads from Elastic Interface are sewn into the gussets of the shorts and suit.
Finishing touches include YKK semi lock zips complete with garages, 3M reflective detailing and silicone elements in use at the waist, cuffs and even on the outside saddle contact surface. Aero rear pockets provide a simple storage solution for essentials, without increasing bulk or drag.
BornBound adds that lightweight Bluesign and OEKO-TEX textiles are present throughout both collections… ‘meeting high levels of sustainable manufacturer responsibility.’
In partnership with Kryptek, a creator of leading technical military apparel, disruptive patterns have been utilised to form a unique style. All BornBound apparel is available with a Kryptek Universal K pattern or in a more classic un-patterned Cosmos Blue colour.
