Green Gear Collective has launched a new online marketplace for outdoor products. The initiative is… ‘aimed at empowering all participating brands to make a positive impact on the planet.’
The socially and environmentally responsible group of brands that participate in the collective set their donation rates per sale on the marketplace (with a minimum of 10%). In turn, this will be donated to the 1% for the Planet Impact Fund at National Philanthropic Trust. Green Gear Collective adds that it will not take any profit, as 100% of it will be donated to the fund.
Brands found on Green Gear Collective share a common ethos of environmental responsibility. Current participating brands include Crazy Creek, ROAM Adventure Co, Farm to Summit, Canary, Hitchfire, LyfeFuel, Go Dash Dot, Opolis Optics, TITAN Survival, RigStrips, and more.
By joining Green Gear’s marketplace, brands have an opportunity to promote their newest products, connect with other like-minded businesses, grow their customer base, and encourage their customers to shop responsibly and make a positive impact.
“Over the last few months we’ve been working on procuring outdoor and wellness brands who share a vision of giving back,” said Steven Graf, co-founder of Green Gear Collective. “We’re stoked to officially launch, grow our collective, and ultimately, create a more sustainable world.”
Brands that want to join the collective connect their shop to the platform, determine their donation rates (10% minimum), and then pick which products from their catalogue they want to showcase and sell on the marketplace.
From there, anytime an order is placed for a product on the marketplace, Green Gear Collective donates the determined amount, and the brand keeps the remainder.
“Joining the Green Gear Collective was a clear choice,” said Patrick Frits, Community Marketing Manager at ROAM Adventure Co.
“This new marketplace gives ROAM the opportunity to collaborate with other like-minded brands in the industry and reach customers who care about making conscientious decisions. We are excited to see what other brands come on board in the future.”
1% for the Planet is an international organization with members contributing at least 1% of their annual revenue to environmental causes to protect the environment. Green Gear Collective is committed to donating 100% of profit to the organization’s Planet Impact Fund. This is due to the fund’s investment model, where every dollar is invested or granted for maximum positive impact for the planet and people to build a healthy, sustainable world.
“Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and only 5% of that comes from businesses,” said Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet.
“The planet needs more support than this, and with the launch of this new platform, Green Gear Collective is providing businesses with greater access to increase giving and support on-the-ground action towards a more sustainable future. “We’re excited to welcome Green Gear Collective to our global movement.”
