In conjunction with the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship women’s race in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, the I AM TRUE initiative is continuing to promote clean sport and anti-doping activities.
For the first time in the event’s 40-plus year history, the spotlight will shine on female triathletes as Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, will welcome the first standalone women’s VinFast IRONMAN World Championship triathlon on October 14, 2023.
Over 2,000 female triathletes will embark on the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship journey in Kailua-Kona after the top male triathletes took on their edition of the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship on September 10 in Nice, France.
IRONMAN adds that its… ‘I AM TRUE message has always been about protecting the integrity of racing and ensuring that athletes know and understand their rights and responsibilities. Using the hashtag #KNOWTHERULES, the scope of the initiative goes beyond the Anti-Doping Program to include all aspects of fair racing that are part of the IRONMAN Competition Rules, including drafting, personal conduct, and mechanical doping.’
The IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program partners with national anti-doping agencies worldwide to execute in and out of competition testing and to coordinate strategic testing plans of professional and age-group athletes throughout the year.
Participants of the VinFast IRONMAN World Championship are a priority focus of the testing program, which includes pre-competition testing program carried out in Kona both prior to and throughout race week.
Doping Control Officers of the US Anti-Doping Agency conduct all testing, with all samples being sent to WADA Accredited laboratories that will analyze urine, blood and dried blood spot testing to ensure independent scientific oversight of all results.
