R-bies, one of the largest timing companies in the world, has partnered up with MYLAPS to offer servicees to event organizers, their participants and fans in Japan.
Both parties have signed an agreement to work together over the coming years. Based in Tokyo, R-bies offers timing and data services to more than 500 mass participation races per year, including the Tokyo Marathon and other events such as the Osaka Marathon and Nagano Marathon.
Since 2022 R-bies has been part of the ASICS Group. The timing company captures over 2 million chip times each year, an impressive number in the world of sports timing.
Founded in 1982, MYLAPS develops sports timing technology that is used extensively, from the Olympics, to major marathons and NASCAR to an array of local races.
To expand its event timing services, R-bies has decided to use MYLAPS BibTag technology. BibTag is a standard timing system for mass events with affordable chips. It is also claimed to have the highest read-rates in the industry. Meanwhile, MYLAPS ThinTag is claimed to be 75% thinner than regular tags, which results in less waste and less shipment space for event organisers.
MYLAPS’ timing system was used last month at the Chicago Marathon, where Kenyan Kelvin Kiptum broke the world record.
