Celebrating its 20th anniversary, on Sunday, June 25, athletes will swim, bike, and run across Southwest Michigan for the annual Maytag IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead triathlon.
Long standing title partner, household appliance brand Maytag, will be onsite at the IRONMAN village to interact with athletes, partners, exhibitors, and vendors. Maytag has been the title partner of the longstanding event since 2012 after taking over from Whirlpool whose involvement reaches back to the inaugural competition in 2003.
Since the race’s inception in 2003, Whirlpool-Maytag has been synonymous with IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead. Whirlpool led the charge as title sponsor until 2012 when its subsidiary company, Maytag, became involved. As title sponsor Maytag is continuing its support of the event, offering open spots to employees/community members and promoting company-wide support to all athletes competing.

The 2023 Maytag IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead triathlon will begin with a 1.2-mile swim in the waters of Lake Michigan in Benton Harbor. Athletes will then take on the 56-mile bike course that will go onto the rural and scenic roads of northern Berrien and western Van Buren counties.
This area is part of the Michigan ‘fruit belt’ and includes numerous farms as well as vineyards and orchards. Athletes finish with a 13.1-mile run through two loops of the Whirlpool Corporate campus park and other sights such as the beach at Jean Klock Park.
The 2023 Maytag IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead triathlon offers 30 age group qualifying slots to the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship on August 26-27, 2023 in Lahti, Finland.
