Non-profit organisations are expected to raise more than US$50,000 volunteering with Cal Tri Events this year.
According to the national US triathlon race series organiser… ‘Colleges, high schools and community organizations see this as an opportunity to raise much needed funds to fuel their mission while simultaneously supporting the Cal Tri Events community of athletes to accomplish their goals.’
“Community impact is one of the major ways we measure success,” said Thom Richmond, Founder of Cal Tri Events. “It is especially gratifying to see these groups return year after year to our races. Every check we write is a success story.”
A Cal Tri release added… ‘Race morning is fast and furious with volunteers checking in athletes, serving as course marshals and welcoming the athletes at the finish line with no heavy lifting involved. A typical day is 7 hours and has volunteers arriving before the athletes and staying until the last athlete crosses the line. The time goes by quickly.
‘The RunSignUp volunteering platform makes registering for a volunteer assignment easy. The date, time, location, age requirement and brief description are listed for each race in the series. As part of the registration process, a community group can be listed so that the volunteer can be associated with the right non-profit. Unaffiliated volunteers can select a non-profit organization of their choice.’
Cal Tri Events is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission for its events to be ‘safe, affordable & accessible’. It is billed as the largest national short-course triathlon series in the US – with athletes enjoying free race transfers, deferrals & participant transfers as late as the day before the race.
