IRONMAN has confirmed that Northwell Health, New York’s largest healthcare provider, will serve as the title partner of the inaugural Northwell Health IRONMAN 70.3 New York – Jones Beach triathlon.
Northwell will also serve as the Official Volunteer Partner and Official Medical Partner for the event, providing medical care to 3,800 registered athletes competing in Jones Beach on September 23, 2023.
“This inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 New York-Jones Beach event will bring together passionate and driven competitors from around the world, and we are happy to have Northwell play an integral part in supporting these athletes’ journey to crossing the finish line,” said Matt Wikstrom, Chief Partnerships Officer for The IRONMAN Group.
Through its sports medicine program, Northwell provides care to athletes at all levels. It has experience working with professional athletes as well as ‘weekend warriors’.
Northwell has state of the art programs and services to treat and prevent sports injuries, with seven Northwell hospitals being recognized by US News & World Report for excellence in orthopaedic care.

Northwell Health has experience providing medical care to other large sporting events. Its specialists routinely provide high-level treatment to athletes – including those on the New York Islanders, New York Jets, and Long Island Ducks, members of Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy, and multiple schools across the New York metropolitan area.
The 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 New York – Jones Beach triathlon will see athletes kick off their journey with a 1.2-mile swim in the protected Zach’s Bay framed by the Jones Beach Amphitheater before embarking upon the 56-mile closed bike course on the flat and fast Wantagh Parkway.
The 13.1-mile run course takes athletes onto the boardwalk alongside the Atlantic Ocean with an finish line on the beach. The IRONMAN 70.3 New York – Jones Beach race offers age group qualifying slots to the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon taking place on December 14-15, 2024 in Taupō, New Zealand.
Announced in April, general registration for the inaugural 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 New York – Jones Beach triathlon has now sold out. With the sell-out, the event will play host to the largest inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 event in the history of the IRONMAN 70.3 brand.
