Running Industry Alliance ties-up with Include Summit on EDI

The Running Industry Alliance (RIA) and Include Summit have announced a partnership. This has a focus on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in sports.

RIA added that… ‘One of the aims of the partnership is to ensure that running has a place for every single underrepresented and underprivileged young person, which is part of RIA’s EDI focus area with its members.’

Include Summit is a leading UK equality, diversity and inclusion summit for sport, taking place on May 3-4, 2023 at Manchester Central Convention Complex.

With a mission of getting ‘1 million underprivileged and underrepresented young people taking part in sport’, Include Summit is a billed as… ‘a chance to hear from leading voices across the sector, attend expert workshops, and connect with others who are passionate about driving change.’

As part of the partnership, RIA will be hosting a roundtable discussion at the summit in May on the topic of EDI in running. RIA members attending the summit will also have access to a dedicated RIA meet-up area.

RIA Co-Leads Rebecca Richardson and Jonathan Midwood said “We are excited to announce this partnership with Include Summit, and we are looking forward to attending the summit in May.

“Equality, diversity and inclusion is one of RIA’s focus areas for 2023 and beyond, and we believe that everyone has a responsibility to ensure that sport has a place for every single underrepresented and underprivileged young person. This partnership is of huge interest to many RIA members and the running industry as a whole, and we are looking forward to helping to change the landscape in the industry.”

Jamie Hooper, Co-Founder of Include Summit, said “We are thrilled to be partnering with RIA to promote EDI in running. Include Summit is committed to achieving our mission of getting 1 million underprivileged and underrepresented young people taking part in sport, and we believe that partnerships like this are essential to driving change in the industry.”
