Scheduled to be held on July 15th, 2023, the Timisoara Triathlon in Romania is getting set for its second edition this year.
The multicultural city in western Romania is often referred to as ‘Little Vienna’, and indeed, Austrian influences are evident in the architecture, food and culture. Timisoara has also been awarded the prestigious title of the European Capital of Culture in 2023.
The Timisoara Triathlon swim course is in the Bega River, located in the centre of the city, with visibility for spectators and a downstream swim for athletes. The challenging bike course may be technical, but is fast-paced along the city’s long avenues, which are closed to traffic during the event.
The run course takes athletes through the central area of the city, where athletes and spectators can take in the shade of parks and buildings… ‘with well-managed aid stations, enthusiastic volunteers and loud supporters.’
“Together with my fellow core members in the Timisoara Triathlon organizing team, we are active competitors in triathlons, so we know what the athletes need and want,” said Vasile Gosa, Race Director of the Timisoara Triathlon.
“We love racing in nice places. Timisoara has a great infrastructure for an urban triathlon and qualifies as a great place for a city-break vacation as well. So here is your perfect racecation.”
