Sportsbreaks.com Combativity Award getting Tour of Britain closer to fans

Tour of Britain hospitality partner Sportsbreaks.com will aim to get fans at this September’s race closer to the action, as spectators will have the chance to vote for the winner of the Sportsbreaks.com combativity award on every stage.

Presented each day to the rider who most illuminates the racing, the award seeks to celebrate unsung heroes of the Tour. This new-for-2023 twist puts the decision in the hands of the race’s fanbase.

The race’s jury will put forward four names who have distinguished themselves after each of the eight stages that make up this year’s race (September 3-10, 2023). From there it will be down to fans to decide the winner via a poll on tourofbritain.co.uk. Those taking part in the poll will also go into a draw to win a prize from Sportsbreaks.com.

The winner of the Sportsbreaks.com combativity award will be presented at the following morning’s start with their unique yellow Sportsbreaks.com branded race numbers during the sign-on presentation podium.

In addition to the eight daily awards, Sportsbreaks.com will also present an overall award to the rider judged to have been the most combative across the whole Tour.

Amanda Brandariz, head of Sportsbreaks.com, said “We’re excited to sponsor the combativity award which will recognise the most resilient, hard-working riders in the Tour of Britain.

“Throughout the Tour, fans watching in the Sportsbreaks.com terrace will not only have the opportunity to vote for the combativity award winner but our lucky guests will also have the chance to present the award itself.”

The Tour of Britain 2023 will begin in Greater Manchester on Sunday, September 3, and culminate eight stages later in South Wales (Sunday, September 10). Along the way the riders will race through Wrexham, East Riding of Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Suffolk, Essex, and Gloucestershire.

Sixteen of the world’s leading teams will take part in the race, led by Tour de France champions Jumbo – Visma, as well as BORA – hansgrohe, and home favourites INEOS Grenadiers.

ITV4 will broadcast live flag-to-flag coverage of every stage in the UK, as well as a daily highlights show. International coverage will be available in over 150 countries courtesy of Eurosport and GCN+.
