Entries for the 2025 Cardiff Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, October 5, 2025, have sold out in record time, with all general entry spots filled within 12 hours of going on sale.
Registration opened on Wednesday, October 9, and the event organisers reported high demand from the outset. Early bird and second release entries were taken within just over an hour, and all general entries were fully booked by the end of the day.
This means that anyone still looking to participate will need to secure a place through an official charity, an international tour operator, or via a Business Challenge package.
This year’s Cardiff Half Marathon featured 27,500 runners, with general entries selling out four months after going on sale.
The event continues to grow in popularity as part of the SuperHalfs Series, which includes races in Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Valencia – drawing around 60,000 runners to the series. Cardiff has become a key destination within the series, helping to boost the city’s reputation in the sports tourism sector.
Matt Newman, Chief Executive of Run 4 Wales, which organizes the event, said “The demand for the 2025 Cardiff Half Marathon has been incredible. 23,000 people pre-registered for priority access, and the early bird entries were gone within 40 minutes. The second-tier tickets were also snapped up within an hour.”
For runners who wish to take part in the event for a good cause, charity entries remain available. NSPCC, the event’s lead charity, offers places for £10, with a commitment to raising £300 in sponsorship.
Associate charity partners for 2025 include Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research Wales, and Mind, each providing reduced entry fees and additional benefits in exchange for fundraising support.
