Alé in apparel partnership with BMC PRO Triathlon Team

Italian apparel specialist Alé will be the technical partner of the BMC Pro Triathlon Team for the 2024 season – supplying cycling clothing and tri-suits to the seven members of the elite athlete team.

The BMC Pro Triathlon Team was founded in 2014 and to date has amassed over 150 victories. These include an IRONMAN World title in Hawaii (2022), a European Open PTO Championship (2023), an ITU Long Distance World title (2021), 11 IRONMAN Continental Champion titles, four World Championship silver medals, as well as several victories in a number of prestigious races on the international calendar.

The 2024 team consists of seven elite athletes: Lucy Buckingham, Lucy Byram, Sam Dickinson, Kristian Høgenhaug, Chris Leiferman, Thor Bendix Madsen and Clément Mignon.

Alé is providing the athletes with garments from its PR-R line – including jerseys and bibshorts, as well as a tri-suit, developed with the team and tested in a wind tunnel.

The tri-suit is a short-sleeved garment, designed with the aim of maximum aerodynamics together with high breathability and reduced drying times. The various fabrics have been structured to optimise their different properties according to their position on the body. The front and sleeves, for example, are made of aerodynamic and bi-elastic fabrics, characterised by a three-dimensional channel structure, and positioned precisely at the points of greatest airflow delamination.

The back panel of the bodysuit is made of a light fabric, with UPF50+ protection factor: it fits the body and offers high elasticity, breathability, and quick drying. Finally, the shorts are made of a stretch microfibre. This fabric again allows the garment to dry quickly.

Alessia Piccolo, CEO of Alé parent company, APG, said “It is a real honour for us to dress the BMC Pro Triathlon team and to participate, as a partner in racewear, in the ambitious project of this professional team.

“Triathlon is a very demanding discipline and clothing is a central part of performance. For the team, we have developed an extremely technical garment made of five different fabrics, created in every detail to maximise aerodynamics and to adapt to the different athletic gestures of this discipline. We want the athletes to feel comfortable at all times and just focus on the race.”

Team’s CEO, Bob De Wolf added “The BMC Pro Triathlon Team is built on key values of professionalism and high performance. The team’s philosophy and vision is to provide maximal professional support for our athletes with the ultimate goal to achieve top results.

“Obviously, this can only be achieved through the commitment and contributions of our sponsors and partners. With the addition of Alé Cycling we are thrilled to take the BMC Pro Triathlon Team from strength to strength. We constantly strive for innovation, to find technical and material advantages and to provide our athletes with the most competitive set up.

“With the BMC Speedmachine we strongly believe our athletes are able to ride the fastest bike on the planet. The partnership with Alé offers us the opportunity to deliver real physiological benefits on the garments side enabling our athletes to train harder, perform stronger and race faster.

“As one of the world’s most technical sportswear companies, Alé brings the knowhow, expertise and in-house production capabilities to provide our athletes with best-in-class race & cycling apparel to optimize overall performance.”
