Set for April 27, 2024, the Mallorca 312 OK Mobility has confirmed that renowned cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten will wear the honorary bib at this year’s edition – becoming the second woman to wear the honorary bib at the popular gran fondo in Mallorca, Spain.
In October, it was confirmed that the 2024 edition of the Mallorca 312 hit capacity in record time. According to the event organising team, the popular Spanish cycling event sold its 8,000 registration bibs in just 6 minutes. This eclipsed the previous record, when the 2023 event was sold out, in the previous October, in 10 hours.
As one of the most prominent figures in women’s cycling, Annemiek van Vleuten joins a select list of elite cyclists who have been recognised with the honorary bib distinction at previous editions of the Mallorca 312.
Alberto Contador, Vincenzo Nibali, Sean Kelly, Joseba Beloki and Pedro Horrillo are among the roster of former cyclists who have participated in the Mallorca 312 event.
As the second woman to wear the honorary bib at the Mallorca 312 (after Mavi García), Annemiek van Vleuten has a long list of accomplishments as a professional cyclist.
The Dutchwoman is in a select group who have achieved the challenge of winning the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France, the Vuelta a España and the UCI World Road Championship; alongside legends such as Jacques Anquetil, Felice Gimondi, Eddy Merckx and Bernard Hinault.
