Beyond The Ultimate movie showcases Jungle Ultra through the Amazon

Event organiser Beyond The Ultimate has released a film documenting its Jungle Ultra, a 230km ultramarathon through the heart of the Amazon.

Held this year on June 3-8, the Jungle Ultra is one of four multi-stage races in Beyond The Ultimate’s Global Race Series, each designed to push the endurance of participants in some of the world’s most extreme environments.

The 230km Jungle Ultra, held over five days in Manu National Park, Peru, saw participants navigate rainforests nestled in the Andes through to trails near the fast-flowing rivers of the Amazon basin. With mud, humidity, and thin air doubling the effort required, 36 runners faced a test of physical and mental resilience.

Manu National Park in southern Peru, is a meeting point of the tropical Andes and the Amazon basin. As a haven of biodiversity it spans Andean highlands, cloud forests and lowland jungle.

“The Jungle Ultra is not just a race; it’s an adventure that challenges every aspect of a runner’s endurance,” said Kris King, Founder of Beyond The Ultimate.

“This year’s event showcased incredible stories of perseverance and grit, and we are thrilled to share these moments through our new film.”

Beyond The Ultimate’s Global Race Series features four uniquely challenging races:

  • Desert Ultra – 250km across the Namib Desert in Namibia (November 18, 2024)
  • Ice Ultra – 230km in the Arctic wilderness of Sweden (February 18, 2025)
  • Jungle Ultra – 230km through the Amazon rainforest, Peru (June 1, 2025)
  • Mountain Ultra – 200km through the Tian Shan Mountain Range, Kyrgyzstan (July 28, 2025)

Each race is designed to test runners against harsh conditions, from freezing arctic temperatures to scorching desert heat. The series offers an opportunity for ultra runners to experience some of the most remote beautiful locations on Earth.

Kris King added: “Our races are about more than just the competition. They are about the journey, the camaraderie, and the personal triumphs that each runner experiences. We are excited to share these powerful stories with a wider audience.”
