Italian cycling shoe and accessories specialist, fizik, has launched limited-edition versions of its Ferox Carbon and Atlas gravel shoes in bold, new Team Amani and Black Mamba colourways.
Team Amani is an initiative that aims to incubate, nurture and develop athletes from East African regions riders – drawing riders from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. The Black Mamba Development Squad is Amani’s U23 team.
To celebrate Team Amani and Black Mamba riders, fizik has unveiled two new designs, both inspired by the wildlife of Kenya.
The Ferox Carbon Team Amani shoe features a dual closure system – the instep and forefoot are independently adjustable – enabling a secure and bespoke fit. Along the instep, Powerstrap provides foot containment whilst also providing a robust, crash-proof system. The premium bi-directional Li2 BOA Fit System, meanwhile, is located on the forefoot, ensuring a micro-adjustable precision fit with even pressure distribution.
The fit is complemented by the X1 carbon and rubber outsole. With a high stiffness to weight ratio, the carbon plate helps to transfer the power generated from shoe to bike. The outsole is also equipped with generous studs and a rubber coating that covers the shoe’s entire surfaces, delivering improved traction for off-the-bike moments.
Ferox’s weight is kept low due to an upper construction where a polyurethane-laminated material is incorporated over a translucent mesh. This not only saves weight, but is also breathable and tear resistant.
