Pinarello has launched an updated version of its MYWAY bike customisation platform, allowing users to customise the brand-new DOGMA F, and DOGMA X, whilst also expanding its range of colour options.
The DOGMA F was recently launched in seven colourways but is now available in a myriad of combinations, including three completely new colours – Borealis Luxter Blue, Borealis Luxter Venice and Borealis Luxter Red gold – which have been added to the MYWAY platform.
For the first time as well, the latest DOGMA F is now being offered across the board in bespoke Edge paint schemes as well as popular Mono, Cut and Faded designs.
The DOGMA X is also available for the first time in those same colourways and new designs, building on the range that was available previously.
In total, the updated MYWAY system will allow cyclists to choose from six different graphic layouts and 24 different colours, five types of decals, and two different finishes.
Pinarello launched MYWAY in 2022, providing customers with an immersive 3D experience, allowing them to customise the look of its flagship bikes, which can then be made into reality.
The Italian bike brand added that… ‘Every custom MYWAY frame is considered a true work of art, as each unique design is recreated by hand by skilled craftsmen at Pinarello’s headquarters in Villorba, Treviso. Indeed, the production process of MYWAY designs is so technical, that only the brand’s best and most experienced painters work on the projects, with most having over 30 years’ experience.’
The process starts with the preparation of each frame. The first coating is hand-polished to create a smooth and flat surface, free from any pores that could disrupt the final finish.
Once the surface is smooth, the frame is moved to the painting department where it gets thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the painting. The frame is then precisely wrapped and taped before any secondary layers of paint are applied. After removing protective films, the finishing details and shading are all carefully applied with the use of an air brush and a precision spray gun.
Each step requires several hours of drying and curing time, making this a lengthy process. Once painting is completed, the team applies a gloss or matt finish and a transparent protective film.
The frame is then allowed to rest for 24 hours before inspection and polishing. The final step is the application of Pinarello’s Decaplus decals, which are baked onto the frame. Pinarello adds that these have been specially designed to reduce weight when compared to undercoating decals.
After that, all that remains is a final check and clean before the frame is ready to go for a full technical inspection around all screws, threads and the seatpost closure, before being assembled as a final bike ready for shipping.
