Over 8,000 athletes lined up in Taitung on the southeast coast of Taiwan, for the 12th edition of Challenge Taiwan, which took place across the weekend of April 27-28, 2024. The event featured an international pro race over the middle distance and mass participation age group races.
Billed as ‘Asia’s largest triathlon’, the event reportedly sold out in hours. For the pro racing, the day started overcast and warm with high humidity levels and a water temperature of 24C meaning no wetsuits for the elite athletes.
Ultimately it was Jack Moody (NZL) and Els Visser (NED) who took the Challenge Taiwan 2024 titles in times of 3:49:16 and 4:08:39 respectively.
