MILER RUNNING has introduced its new Dirt Collection, the third permanent collection for the brand, designed for trail environments and ultra distances.
The collection includes three matching black pieces – the Dirt Running 2-in-1 Short, Dirt Running 1⁄2 Zip SS Tee and Dirt Running 1⁄2 Zip Tank. According to the company, these are constructed from a featherweight, four-way stretch Cordura nylon woven in France.
Recognized for its durability and resistance to abrasion and tears, Cordura nylon is seen as an ideal fabric choice for trail and ultra running. Each piece is also accented with VentGrid nylon, which utilizes a permeable grid system for enhanced breathability and moisture-wicking in high-sweat zones.
Other features include a UPF 50+ rating for UV protection and bonded seams and hems to reduce chafing.
The Dirt Running 2-in-1 Short aims to elevate the basic trail short with an adjustable belted waistband that provides comfort and a secure fit, while the exposed belt doubles as a carry system for an extra garment. Two drop-in hip pockets and two interior stash pockets provide storage for a phone, nutrition and other items.
The Dirt Running 1⁄2 Zip SS Tee and Dirt Running 1⁄2 Zip Tank compliment the shorts and are engineered for trail running and ultra distances with a vest compatible design. The Cordura nylon fabric resists pilling under a vest, plus a standing collar serves to protect the vulnerable neck area from a moving or unstable vest as well as sun exposure.
MILER RUNNING points out that the garments were… ‘Tested and developed over a 12-month period in trail races, ultra competitions and multi-day running tours in rigorous desert and alpine environments from the nearby Catskills Mountains in New York to the faraway Alps of Europe.
‘To capture the spirit of the collection at its limit, the collection campaign was photographed over a six-day, 88-mile run tour in the Dolomite Mountains of Italy.
‘The Dirt Collection continues the MILER RUNNING tradition of building a hyper focused product assortment beginning with a rigorously tested, limited range of pieces exclusively in black colorways and incrementally adding features, styles and colorways with thoughtful intention.’
Recognizing the blurred boundaries between road and trail, urban and rural, and training and racing, each permanent collection from the brand is named and designed for an environment, spirit or quality, rather than a typical mode of running.
For example, the inaugural collection, the Base Collection, features breathability and moisture management for warm and humid conditions, such as urban road running in summer. Released in 2023, the Work Collection is durable and versatile for road running, trail running or multi-sport activity in three-season conditions (i.e., spring, summer, autumn/fall).
The latest Dirt Collection fills a gap in the MILER RUNNING product range with a goal of delivering enhanced technical and functional features that cater to the unique and extreme demands of trail environments and ultra distances.
The collection will be available for sale to the public Friday, July 26 at 9:00 EST exclusively on the brand’s website.
