Elastic Interface‘s collaboration with Swiss cycling apparel firm X-BIONIC resulted in the latest X-BIONIC product: the COREFUSION Compression bib shorts.
The new bib shorts feature the Elastic Interface N3X insert, a technology patented by the Italian brand and first unveiled at the German trade show Eurobike in 2022.
The pad with 3D-printed inserts in the new X-BIONIC bib shorts has been exclusively developed for the X-BIONIC. Using 3D printing to produce pad inserts stems, it enables the padding’s technical features to be controlled – in order to recreate the protection and support typically provided by foam, bypassing conventional manufacturing methods (extrusion).
Elastic Interface adds that its N3X insert delivers temperature control in the sensitive pad area, ergonomic support, long-lasting and durable protection, breathability, minimal bulk, customisation and, more importantly, zero waste.
3D printing gives Elastic Interface control over the material’s structure, and thus over the support provided to the riders. Manufacturing N3X does not produce any waste because it uses only what is needed, and any surplus is reutilized in the same production process.
The 3D-printed padding’s open-cell lattice improves air flow to more efficiently cool the area and wick away moisture, which ensures quicker drying and optimised skin temperature management.
The new X-BIONIC COREFUSION Compression bib shorts with N3X padding are designed to maintain the rider’s body temperature at 37°C in the pad area. Incorporating the proprietary X-BIONIC Partial Compression technology, COREFUSION Compression bib shorts are for intense training sessions and long rides in hot temperatures.
