Three-year title sponsorship extension for Generali Berlin Half Marathon

On the eve of the Generali Berlin Half Marathon, on April 7, 2024, event organiser SCC Events confirmed the extension of the event’s title sponsorship contract – with Italian insurance company Generali Group on board for a further three years.

With a record number of 39,000 participants from 134 nations, the Generali Berlin Half Marathon is one of the biggest international races over half marathon distance.

Stefan Lehmann, CEO of Generali Deutschland AG, said “I am delighted that Generali Deutschland has been able to extend its commitment as title sponsor of the Generali Berlin Half Marathon for a further three years.

“Together with our partner SCC Events, we want to continue to develop this event in the coming years. The Generali Berlin Half Marathon is one of the top events in German running and brings together tens of thousands of people from a wide variety of backgrounds every year.”

He continued, “We are firmly convinced of the integrative power of sport. Almost 40,000 runners from 134 nations are taking part in this year’s Generali Berlin Half Marathon. We at Generali are taking part with more than 100 colleagues from eight European national companies. Together, we are taking a stand as an insurer, employer and corporate citizen by standing up for diversity, integration, variety, democracy and tolerance.

“We also want to motivate people to lead a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle with our ‘Generali bewegt Deutschland’ initiative. Running promotes physical and mental health and thus has a preventive effect against the most common widespread diseases.”

Jürgen Lock, Managing Director of SCC Events, said “We are delighted that Generali Deutschland AG, as title sponsor, has extended its commitment to the Generali Berlin Half Marathon with SCC Events as organiser for a further three years.

“The mutual understanding of such important topics as comprehensive sustainability (economic development, social justice, environmental protection), the activation of movement and the creation of emotions at an event that brings generations together strengthens this important partnership.”

Generali Deutschland AG has been the title partner of the Generali Berlin Half Marathon since 2019. The event got on board with the SuperHalfs series in 2024.

As part of the SuperHalfs series, in the mass participation race runners have an opportunity to become ‘SuperRunners’ and receive an exclusive medal after all six races in the SuperHalfs series have been completed.
