Over 40 pro athletes line-up at Challenge Cagnes-sur-Mer

Challenge Family is heading back to France’s Côte d’Azur this weekend for the second edition of Challenge Cagnes-sur-Mer. Held on Saturday, June 29, this year’s event features a strong professional field with 48 professional athletes competing.

In the men’s field, Jack Moody (AUS) will be challenged by Jordi Montraveta Moya (ESP), Will Draper (GBR) and William Mennesson (FRA) among others.

The women’s field is equally competitive, with Diede Diederiks (NED) up against Aurelia Boulanger (FRA), currently second in the Challenge Family Bonus ranking, Sarah Schönfelder (GER), and Justine Guerard (FRA), a local favourite.

Challenge Cagnes-sur-Mer on the French Riviera features standard and middle-distance events. The race will kick off at 07:00 CET on June 29, with the pro men starting first, followed by the pro women and age group athletes.

Athletes will swim in the Mediterranean Sea and tackle two laps of 950m each with an Australian exit (where athletes leave the water after the first lap before re-entering for the second). The 96km bike ride includes the foothills above the Mediterranean, the scenic backcountry of Vence, and the Col de Vence of Paris-Nice fame, with an elevation gain of just about 1,000m.

The 21.1km run is flat as it follows the coastline, lined with spectators. Live updates and timing will be available at www.challenge-family.live.
