Aero apparel specialist Rule 28 has unveiled its all-new Gravel Suit… ‘designed with the demands and feedback of elite gravel racers in mind.’
Rule 28’s foray into the gravel sector builds on its longstanding sponsorship of professional gravel racer and YouTuber Dylan Johnson.
Johnson said “Last year we went to the wind tunnel and found out that a USWE pack actually improved aerodynamics. Rule 28 took that idea and ran with it for the gravel suit, creating a pretty genius solution for carrying fluid and making you faster at the same time.
“The rising standard and speed of gravel racing at all levels has prompted Rule 28 to turn their specialist expertise to the discipline, and provide aero gains no longer confined to the tarmac or track.”
Rule 28’s Gravel Suit utilises a 1.5L capacity pouch at the rear to hold a water reservoir securely in place when riding over rough terrain, and eliminates the need to carry a backpack during ultra distance races. The pouch ensures easy enough access that water reservoir refills are quick through feed stations, and two loops at the shoulder of the suit hold the hose in place.
Drawing inspiration from its Tri Suit pattern, Rule 28 has optimised the Gravel Suit for a slightly more upright position, unlike its flatter-back optimised Road and TT suits. Ribbed arm panels come up and over the shoulder to form a raglan sleeve, allowing the tripping of airflow over the back.
Utilising the same fabrics as in the brand’s existing aero range, Rule 28 has developed the Gravel Suit for racing speeds between 30-45kph.
The company added that… ‘UItra distance racing demands effective fuelling, and the two nutrition pockets to the rear of the suit are larger than those on Rule 28’s Road Suit, providing ample storage. The double mesh number pocket is practical, and also handy for storing empty wrappers.
