Sprinters route unveiled for 105th edition of Milano-Torino

The 105th edition of Milano-Torino presented by Crédit Agricole will be held on March 13, 2024, three days before Milano-Sanremo. The race will start in Rho, northwest of Milan, and finish in Orbassano, southwest of Turin, after 177 km.

The Milano-Torino route is mainly flat in the first half becoming more undulating after entering Piedmont. The team list has been announced as well, with 9 UCI WorldTour teams among the 18 on the start-line.

Starting in Rho the route crosses the upper Po Valley on flat roads surrounded by rice paddies, touching Magenta, Novara and Vercelli, and reaches the Canavese with the first climbs in Cossano Canavese and San Martino Canavese.

Past Rivarolo Canavese, in Salassa, a circuit of about 44 km begins, which features two climbs of about 4 km each. The ascent from Rivara to Prascorsano has gradients of around 9% in the first part, and, after Cuorgnè, climbs to Colleretto Castelnuovo. From the last climb to the finish line, there are about 18 km. The last 10 km are practically flat until the finish in Salassa.

The last 5 km runs on flat and broad urban roads, featuring consecutive roundabouts. The home straight is 800m long, and 8m wide.

Paolo Bellino, CEO & Managing Director at race organiser RCS Sport, said “Milano-Torino is a special classic of world cycling, a race that since 1876 has brought to the fore not only the champions who have won it, with excellent examples that we find in the roll of honour, but also the territories that are touched.

“In fact, the event has an increasingly wide reach thanks to a TV coverage that allows it to be broadcast all over the world. In the last few years we have gone back to our origins, just a few days after Milano-Sanremo, with a route that enhances the characteristics of the fast men who will have to know how to resist the hills of Canavese to be able to compete in the sprint.”
