Tough Mudder partners with Alzheimer’s Research UK

Tough Mudder has announced Alzheimer’s Research UK as an Official Charity Partner for its 2024 obstacle course racing (OCR) season. As an official charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK will be on-board as part of the registration process for tickets and fundraising, right through to event activation.

The UK’s leading dementia research charity will be using the ten UK-based events to showcase its work and share a vision for a world where people are free from dementia.

Over 100,000 participants took part in Tough Mudder events in 2023 around the UK with thousands of them raising money for charity. By sharing values of togetherness and teamwork, the charity hopes to capitalise on the generosity of the Tough Mudder community.

Matthew Brooke, Senior Vice President at Tough Mudder, said “We are honoured to welcome Alzheimer’s Research UK as an Official Charity Partner to Tough Mudder. The work they do is truly life-changing and we know how affected our Tough Mudder community have been by the impacts of dementia.

“With such a brilliant year of events lined up we look forward to working with them and sharing the message while aligning on our shared values of camaraderie, determination, and togetherness.”

Julia Sobik, Head of Sporting Events and Volunteering at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said “We’re delighted to become an Official Charity Partner to Tough Mudder, and work with their brilliant community of runners.

“We know that almost one million people are living with dementia and if nothing changes, one in two of us will be directly affected by the condition – either by developing it ourselves, caring for a loved one, or tragically both.

“However, we know dementia is caused by physical diseases, and diseases can be cured. Great strides are being made in dementia research and while new treatments are on the horizon there is still more to do to save people from the heartbreak of the condition.

“By taking on the challenge of Tough Mudder, runners will be helping us move one step closer to a cure, and change the future for people with dementia.”
