Skratch Labs has launched its first unsweetened, sugar-free, hydration Everyday Drink Mix, formulated with electrolytes and a ‘squeeze of real fruit’.
A release from Skratch Labs noted… ‘The all-new mix supports athletes with a product they can consume during a broad range of activities, from intense training sessions to shorter workouts, travel and more, and can be combined with other Skratch Labs drink mixes for those needing to customize their electrolyte profile based on activity or personal sweat profile.’
Skratch Labs’ founder, Dr Allen Lim, pointed to two hydration needs for athletes:
- The ability to customize electrolyte intake or combine additional electrolytes with other Skratch Labs products to attain the sodium and carbohydrate levels for their individual performance needs; and
- The need for an unsweetened hydration option for those who demand electrolytes but don’t need additional caloric energy or want non-nutritive sweeteners.
Skratch Labs’ Hydration Everyday Drink Mix targets these goals by maintaining an optimal electrolyte profile mix that includes 400 mg of sodium, 100 mg of potassium, 50 mg of calcium, 50 mg of magnesium, and 1-2 g of carbohydrates per serving. The company points to the product’s low osmolality to prevent disruption to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
Gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegan, kosher, and genetically modified organisms-free (GMO-free), each serving of the mix is only 10 calories with no sugar, artificial flavourings, dyes, or alternative sweeteners such as stevia, monk fruit, sucralose, or allulose.
“Everyday Drink Mix gives athletes what they’ve always wanted,” said Dr Lim. “It’s something they can use when sweating and thirsty but don’t need any additional energy, to a really simple way to customize the sodium levels in our Sport or High Carb Drink Mixes when they are in need of fuel along with electrolytes. Everyday Drink Mix now gives us a simple product ecosystem to meet the needs of every athlete, every day.”
Launching in time for summer training season, the new product will come in two flavours: lemon + lime and tangerine + orange, with other seasonal flavours being developed. The new drink mix is available in single-serve, 15 single-serving packs, or 30-serving resealable bags, and prices range from US$1.65-US$27.95.
