Sport in Mind, the UK’s sport and mental health charity, is launching its 2025 ‘100km Your Way’ challenge. This aims to inspire movement and raise funds for mental health support, following a year where over 5.2 million referrals were made to mental health services in England.
The challenge officially starts on Friday, October 10, 2025 – World Mental Health Day – and invites participants to complete 100 kilometres in 10 days by running, walking, cycling, or moving in any way they choose.
The collective goal is to raise £100,000 to fund the charity’s mental health and exercise programmes. Entry is free, with each participant pledging to raise a minimum of £50.
Sport in Mind is an award-winning charity that partners with the NHS to deliver physical activity programmes for people experiencing mental health challenges. This includes sessions for adults, new mums, children, and young people, providing opportunities to experience the benefits of sport on mental wellbeing.
The charity highlights a critical need for funding, noting that 1 in 12 children are now accessing NHS mental health support, and services are under greater pressure than ever before.
Neil Harris, Chief Executive Officer at Sport in Mind, said “We’re aiming high with our £100,000 target, but we’re confident that together we can raise these vital funds to bring hope through sport.
“Over the past decade, I’m proud that Sport in Mind has supported thousands of children and adults struggling with their mental health, but the scale of the challenge is enormous, and the need for support has never been greater.”
He added that the funding will enable the charity to expand its work across the country. £50 can fund an innovative youth programme for up to 12 young people, while reaching the £100,000 target would allow the charity to expand services into two new counties for a whole year.
Participants will receive a personal link via the Give and Gain platform to track their progress and raise money. Sign-up is available via the Race At Your Pace platform.
