Challenge Family notes that the sold-out Challenge Vieux Boucau triathlon in France is set to host over 2,200 athletes on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The starting line includes an international professional field of 85 athletes competing on France’s Atlantic coast.
Joining the professional field in the middle distance race are over 2,100 age group athletes from 26 nations. The weekend celebration of sport also includes junior, sprint, and Olympic distance racing.
This includes 165 athletes racing as part of Challenge Family’s revamped Tri Together relay team program, which is designed to welcome participants into endurance sport.
The men’s elite race features a competitive line-up. Guillem Montiel Moreno (ESP), the Challenge Salou 2024 winner who has collected three victories this season, is one of the favourites.
He will face competition from Thomas Davis (GBR), who claimed victory at Challenge Salou 2025 and placed fourth at Challenge Gdańsk. Adding further international strength is Mattia Ceccarelli (ITA), who is returning to Challenge Family racing after his Challenge Riccione 2019 win.
German athlete Hannes Butters (GER), who finished fifth at Challenge St Pölten last year, is also aiming for a strong finish. Rounding out the contenders is Tom Vaelen (BEL), who took fourth at Challenge Mogán–Gran Canaria.
The elite women’s race includes a strong French presence, led by Solenne Billouin (FRA). The XTERRA World Champion in 2024 is transitioning to road racing, bringing her off-road strength to the middle-distance format.
Zaira Lorenzo (ESP), third at Challenge Salou earlier this year, will start her fifth Challenge Family race of the season. Also returning to racing is Alexia Bailly (FRA) after two years of injuries; her last Challenge Family race was Challenge Salou in 2021.
