The HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB return to Big Bear Lake, California, on October 9–11, as the UTMB World Series Americas Major for 2025.
This special designation allows participants to earn double Running Stones toward UTMB World Series Finals qualification. According to event organiser, The IRONMAN Group, the event weekend includes 2,500 registered runners from 46 countries competing across five distances: 100-mile, 100K, 50K, 21K, and 10K.
Each race in the Big Bear Lake area traverses diverse desert, subalpine, and semi-arid landscapes, offering runners scenic and challenging routes unique to Southern California.
A release from IRONMAN added that… ‘Just a short drive from Los Angeles, the HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB combine mountain charm and adventure. Runners and supporters can enjoy the natural beauty of Big Bear Lake, with plenty of hiking, biking, and lake activities. All races finish in the heart of downtown Big Bear, for a lively and welcoming finish line experience.’
HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB is a dual qualifier for the UTMB World Series Finals and Western States Endurance Run, making it a key event on the international trail running calendar.
The UTMB World Series offers trail running enthusiasts the chance to experience the UTMB adventure across the globe, with events taking place in Asia, Oceania, Europe, Africa and the Americas. The series is the route for trail runners to start their quest towards the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc, where the UTMB World Series finals take place.
Launched in May 2021 with the collaboration of UTMB Group and The IRONMAN Group, the UTMB World Series circuit brings together 50 events in 28 countries
