Having celebrated its 40th edition on March 16, 2025, the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon has been named one of the ten most valuable marathon brands in the world.
This is according to the newly released Brand Finance Marathons 50 report, in which the LA Marathon ranked 10th globally – placing ahead of races in Chicago, Dubai, Amsterdam, Singapore and Seoul – and 9th in terms of economic impact.
The report cited the global appeal and economic contribution of marathons, noting a US$5.2 billion total economic impact across host cities. The LA Marathon alone contributed US$122 million to the Los Angeles economy, placing it alongside other major cultural events in the city such as the Academy Awards (US$134 million).
Owned and operated by The McCourt Foundation (TMF), the LA Marathon celebrated its 40th edition in 2025. TMF also oversees the Santa Monica Classic, Rose Bowl Half Marathon and Boston Waterfront 5K, and has donated more than US$6.7 million to neurology research while supporting over 105 non-profit partners.
Participants in the LA Marathon pass by major Los Angeles landmarks, including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Rodeo Drive and the Capitol Records building, before finishing on the Avenue of the Stars in Century City.
Looking ahead, the 41st ASICS Los Angeles Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, a week earlier than originally planned to avoid a scheduling conflict with the Academy Awards.
The change, agreed in coordination with Oscars organisers, helps prevent overlap near the Dolby Theatre, which sits at the 12-mile mark of the race route.
“We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding as we make this change,” said Race Director Stacy Ferraro. “Our team is doing everything possible to make the transition smooth, and we can’t wait to celebrate 41 years running with our community in 2026.”
The LA Charity Half Marathon will also take place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, while the Big 5 Sporting Goods LA 5K and LA Kids Run presented by Circle K will be held on Saturday, March 7. The two-day Health & Fitness Expo begins Friday, March 6 at Dodger Stadium.
