Fuelin, the app that supports athletes to fuel & recover, has today launched a new feature called Smart Meals. The company claimed this is a breakthrough feature designed to close the gap between an athlete’s nutrition planning and their real-world eating.
Powered by AI, Smart Meals suggests tailored meal options based on an athlete’s available ingredients, cuisine preferences, or even local restaurant menus. Crucially, every suggestion is aligned with the athlete’s personalised Fuelin nutrition targets.
The US-based company noted that nutrition is one of the hardest variables for athletes to control. While training is planned and recovery is structured, eating may often become ‘the wild card’.
Fuelin Chief Nutrition Officer, Scott Tindal, said “With Smart Meals, we’re eliminating the daily friction point of ‘what should I eat?’ It’s a way to make personalized nutrition adapt to real life – whether you’re standing in front of your fridge, ordering takeout, or eating out with friends. Wherever you are, you’ll have three smart options that fit your plan.”
The feature offers flexibility in several scenarios:
- Cook smarter at home Athletes can enter the ingredients they have on hand, and Smart Meals will instantly suggest three creative, performance-aligned recipes.
- Fuel well on the go When travelling or eating out, athletes can share a restaurant name or cuisine style, and Smart Meals will recommend dishes that hit their macros.
- Stay aligned with goals Every recommendation is designed with the athlete’s training load, macro targets, and performance goals in mind.
Daniela Ryf, Chief Fueling Officer at Fuelin, said “Lots of people know what’s healthy but lack the inspiration for what to actually cook. Smart Meals recommends a specific meal that not only fulfills your goal macros, but also a meal that is inspiring.”
To create personalised daily nutrition plans that adapt to an athlete’s training and goals, Fuelin integrates with Garmin and leading training platforms such as TrainingPeaks, HumanGO, TriDot, RunDot, and Final Surge.
The platform is used by world champions such as Jan Frodeno, Daniela Ryf, and Holly Lawrence, alongside thousands of endurance athletes across triathlon, running, cycling, swimming, and rowing.
Smart Meals is now available to all Fuelin subscribers.
