KA-EX targeting ‘stress hormone’ cortisol to improve post-workout recovery

KA-EX, a Swiss-based brand, is expanding the presence of its recovery supplement in the US market.

KA-EX claims that it is the world’s first fast-acting cortisol stress reducer. The product is designed to reduce the ‘stress hormone’ cortisol to improve post-workout recovery, muscle repair, and sleep.

The company was founded in 2017 by CEO and founder Pedro Schmidt, who graduated from the pharmaceutical sciences program at ETH Zurich.

Pedro Schmidt said “More and more endurance athletes started writing to us that KA-EX is an absolute game-changer for their post-workout recovery. They sleep better, feel more energized the next day, and see some significant progress in their daily performance.”

The company says that independent studies have shown a 36% decrease in athlete cortisol levels within 48 hours after using KA-EX. The product is popular in Switzerland and is now an official supplier to teams such as PSG and Tudor Pro Cycling.

Fabian Cancellara, two-time Olympic gold medalist and CEO of Tudor Pro Cycling Team, said the product is “the perfect complement to offer our riders the best possible conditions for top performance.”

The KA-EX product, which contains acidic and alkaline substances, is available in a push-cap bottle that keeps the ingredients separated until activated before consumption.

KA-EX’s US expansion began in Q2 2024 with a launch at Equinox gym locations in California, and the company is now expanding to the East Coast.

Based on its market expansion in the US, the patented product is expected to generate over CHF 100 million (approximately US$124 million) in annual sales by 2026.
