HiveEnergy takes on title partner sponsorship of Challenge Wānaka Multi & Duathlon

Challenge Wānaka in New Zealand has confirmed HiveEnergy as the new title partner for this year’s multi and duathlon event, which will now be named the HiveEnergy Challenge Wānaka Multi & Duathlon, taking place on Saturday October 18, 2025.

HiveEnergy is a family-owned and operated New  Zealand business. Already well-known to many in the Challenge Wānaka community as the official nutrition sponsor for February’s triathlon festival weekend, HiveEnergy is extending its commitment by supporting the multisport event in October.

HiveEnergy Co-founder Kirsten Beeby, a keen sports nutrition enthusiast and co-owner of Parakore Honey, started the brand by leveraging honey as an ‘effective, clean energy source.’

The honey used by HiveEnergy is sourced exclusively from New  Zealand. This carefully selected honey is blended and refined to create a gel that claims to provide optimal performance, taste and digestibility.

The HiveEnergy Challenge Wānaka Multi & Duathlon continues to grow from strength to strength, with a 50% reported increase in participant numbers in 2024 compared to the previous year. The event organising team adds that this growth is emphasised by the fact that the event is attracting both experienced athletes and newcomers to the sport – seen as a testament to its inclusive and supportive spirit.

“We are delighted to be involved with the growth of this event, which kicks off the multi and duathlon season in a sport that our family is very passionate about,” says Kirsten Beeby, HiveEnergy Co-Founder. “We can’t wait to see athletes powered by nature and experiencing the buzz HiveEnergy brings.”

Event Director Jane Sharman added “It’s fantastic to welcome HiveEnergy as our new title partner for the Challenge Wanaka Multi & Duathlon. Their dedication to natural performance nutrition and their genuine connection to our community make this partnership a perfect fit.”

The HiveEnergy Challenge Wanaka Multi & Duathlon sees participants take on a 25km kayak across Lake Wānaka, followed by a 43km mountain bike through diverse trails, and finish with a 14km trail run showcasing the region’s landscapes.

Participants can alternatively skip the kayak and sign up for the duathlon option. Whether solo or in a team, the event aims to deliver a challenge in one of the world’s most scenic multisport destinations.
