Latest RunSignup RaceDay Mobile Timing App features real-time photo capture

US-based event tech & registration specialist RunSignup has released its RaceDay Mobile Timing App v5. This update introduces real-time photo capture integration, allowing race timers to capture and auto-tag participant photos directly from the app.

RunSignup notes that event images are instantly linked to participants’ results pages and the event’s photo gallery, eliminating the need for manual uploads and making the process more seamless and real-time.

“Timers play a critical role in delivering engaging race experiences,” said Bob Bickel, CEO and Founder of RunSignup. “With the latest update to our RaceDay Mobile Timing App, we’re giving timers an easy, automated way to incorporate race photography into results.

“This real-time integration is truly a game changer for the types of services timers can bring to the table.”

RunSignup’s RaceDay Mobile Timing App is a free offering designed for timing smaller or remote races or serving as a backup for chip-timed events. Using Apple and Android devices, timers can log finish times, track the order of finishers, resolve conflicting timing and order data, and publish final results.

The app is widely used for events such as ultra-distance races, track and field meets, cross-country runs, cycling events, and water sports. For larger races, it serves as a backup timing tool, helping timers verify top finisher results or as a contingency timing solution.

The new real-time photo integration feature simplifies the process of capturing and delivering participant photos. Since the RaceDay Mobile Timing App is fully integrated with RunSignup’s registration and results platforms, the participant names, bib numbers, results, and photos are seamlessly linked.

Volunteers or staff stationed at the finish line or along milestones on the course can take photos directly from the app, and the system records the time, scans the bib, and instantly connects the image to the participant’s results page. This reduces the workload for timers and event organizers while enhancing the overall race experience for participants.
