RunThrough Relays: new UK run relay race format in London & Manchester

UK event company RunThrough has launched RunThrough Relays – billed as an all-new race experience designed to bring runners together for a team challenge, with events in London and Manchester in 2025.

The inaugural RunThrough Relays events will take place in two locations in 2025:

  • London – Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – May 29, 2025
  • Manchester – Media City – September 24, 2025

In the new RunThrough Relays each team consists of three runners, with each member running a 5K leg before passing the relay baton to their teammate.

The lapped nature of the route (each team member completes 2 laps of a 2.5K loop) enables teammates and supporters to cheer each other on as they start and finish each loop.

Event entries include food and drink to be enjoyed after the race, creating a post-race social environment as well as connecting with people from other teams. There will be music and DJs keeping the energy going after the race and there will also be team prize presentations for category winners as well as fun prizes for non-performance/non-race result categories.

Matt Wood, Co-Founder of RunThrough, said “We’re incredibly excited to launch RunThrough Relays – a brand-new concept that brings the energy of team racing to two of the UK’s most iconic locations.

“Running is often seen as an individual sport, but there’s something special about coming together, pushing each other forward, and celebrating as a team. This event is all about celebrating the joy of running with friends, clubmates, and the wider running community. We can’t wait to see teams lining up, passing the baton, and sharing the experience of racing together.”
