MYLAPS renews long-standing Houston Marathon partnership

MYLAPS has extended its partnership with the Houston Marathon, the largest single day sporting event in the city of Houston, Texas. The event, which takes place next year on January 10-11, 2026, is run alongside a half marathon and a 5km race.

In the coming years, the event weekend will continue to be timed using MYLAPS BibTag technology, by local timing partners The Last Mile Racing and Information Overload.

“MYLAPS is dedicated to providing athletes, fans, and organizers with the ultimate sports experience,” said Sean Reilly, Managing Director of the Americas at MYLAPS.

“The Houston Marathon Committee shares our passion for performance, fitness, and community, and we’re excited to continue collaborating with this iconic event in the years ahead.”

For the last number of years, the Houston Marathon Committee has relied on MYLAPS BibTag technology, which is known for its high read rates for mass participation running events. BibTag is used at major marathons and other mass participation events worldwide, offering a efficient solution for large-scale races.

“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with MYLAPS, The Last Mile Racing, and Information Overload,” said Amanda Sandoval, Senior Director, Participant Services at the Houston Marathon Committee.

“Their proven technology and commitment to innovation help us deliver a world-class race experience for every runner. We value their support and look forward to building on our success together.”

Founded in 1972, the Houston Marathon Committee (HMC) organizes one of the US nation’s leading winter marathons. Together with the half marathon and 5K, HMC notes that the event weekend hosts over 300,000 participants, volunteers, and spectators.

Recognized by World Athletics, the Gold Label Chevron Houston Marathon has been the race site for three US Olympic Trials Marathons. The Gold Label Aramco Houston Half Marathon has hosted 16 US Half Marathon Championships.

HMC received Gold Label Certification from the Council for Responsible Sport from 2011 to 2020. The event also garnered the 2015 AIMS Green Award for sustainability initiatives.

The event weekend reportedly generates over US$50 million in economic impact for the region annually and has raised over US$39 million through the Run for a Reason Charity Program since its inception. The event is broadcast and streamed Live on ABC13, ESPN+ and Disney + (with Disney Bundle Trio).
