TrainingPeaks Virtual has introduced World Routes, which is part of a new feature called GPXplore within the virtual cycling platform.
Originally launched by TrainingPeaks, the training app for endurance coaches & athletes, in October 2024, TrainingPeaks Virtual came about following the company’s acquisition of virtual cycling platform indieVelo.
Now, via World Routes, athletes can ride real-world routes inside the platform, starting with six iconic climbs from around the globe. This is the first phase of incorporating real-world routes into TrainingPeaks Virtual using GPX files, with the ability for users to upload their own routes coming soon.
Available now in TrainingPeaks Virtual:
- Passo dello Stelvio — Italy
- Flagstaff Mountain — Colorado, USA
- Koppenberg — Flanders, Belgium
- Sa Calobra — Mallorca, Spain
- Alpe d’Huez — France
- Parc du Mont-Royal Circuit — Quebec, Canada
This new feature aims to create a bridge between indoor training and outdoor performance, letting athletes prepare more specifically for the events and climbs they’ll face in real life.
Other elements to TrainingPeaks Virtual’s evolution since its launch last year include:
- Enhanced Physics & Graphics – new cornering physics replicate real-world demands
- Accessible Pricing – TrainingPeaks Virtual is included with TrainingPeaks Premium
- Redesigned Bikes & Gear – sleeker virtual models that bring a more authentic ride feel
- Upgraded Graphics & UI – upgraded visuals and a modern home screen and menus for faster navigation
- Free 4 All Tuesday – to showcase the platform, every first Tuesday of the month TrainingPeaks opens rides on TrainingPeaks Virtual for free
With World Routes, TrainingPeaks Virtual is aiming to bring together real-world rides, real-world kits, and real-world tactics into… ‘the most performance-focused indoor training experience available.’
