OBED launches MMR gravel bike for remote adventure riding

US-based OBED Bicycles (part of the American Bicycle Group (ABG) stable along with Quintana Roo and Litespeed) has launched the MMR. The new gravel bike is designed for riders tackling remote, rugged and little-maintained roads.

The bike’s name references the ‘Minimum Maintenance Road’ signs familiar to off-grid cyclists. Such routes – from broken pavement and chunky fireroads to overgrown singletrack – can test both rider and equipment. OBED notes that the MMR is designed to thrive in these environments.

The frame offers clearance for 2.25in (57mm) tyres, opening the bike to a wide range of terrain. Suspension-corrected geometry allows for compatibility with gravel suspension forks, including the Cane Creek Invert CS and Fox Factory Taper-Cast. An optional Fox Transfer SL dropper post is also available, along with frame and fork mounts for carrying gear.

The MMR features an integrated downtube storage bay accessed via a protective door on the underside of the frame. OBED offers an Essentials Tool Roll Bag to fit this space, available with or without tools from Prestacycle. Additional accessories include the OBED Adventure Top Tube Bag and Adventure Frame Bag, available separately or as part of a bundle.

As with all OBED bikes, the MMR can be customised with a choice of bar widths, crank lengths, stem sizes, paint finishes and graphics – including a Basalt-themed two-tone colourway.

The MMR is available in four sizes (XS, S, M and L) with Shimano and SRAM XPLR build options from US$3,499. The bike is available worldwide via direct order.
