Swiss brand On has launched the Cloudboom Max, a race-day shoe engineered for marathon runners targeting a finish time of 4:00–4:30 hours.
The shoe is designed with a focus on comfort and stability for runners who train seriously and need support over long distances.
The Cloudboom Max joins the Cloudboom family – On’s dedicated line of race-day footwear. The brand aims to offer a solution for a wide range of running goals, paces, and needs, whether a runner is chasing a personal best or completing their first race.
The new shoe’s release coincides with the autumn/winter 2025 Pace collection, a new range of running apparel that combines performance with a distinctive aesthetic. Together, the company adds that the product launches reflect On’s ongoing commitment to innovation across all levels of the running community.

Key features of On Cloudboom Max:
- High-cushion race-day shoe: Tailored for the everyday marathoner, offering more cushioning and support than elite-focused ‘super shoes’ while still providing strong energy return.
- Helion HF foam midsole: On’s premium, high-energy-return foam, with a geometry tuned to support the running style of non-elite runners.
- Glass-fibre infused Speedboard: A polyamide plate with 8% glass fibre, designed to support heel strikers and maintain comfort over marathon distances.
- Breathable, adaptive mesh upper: Moulds to the foot for lasting comfort across the full marathon distance.
- Midsole geometry: Features an 8mm drop (40mm heel, 32mm toe) shaped to offer stability and propulsion.
- Weight & Fit: Weighs 296g (Men’s US 8.5) and 250g (Women’s US 7), with On aiming for a true-to-size fit. It will be available in Men’s US 7–14 and Women’s US 5–11.
The Cloudboom Max became available on August 21, 2025, priced at US$230 / €240 EUR / £220. The autumn/winter 2025 Pace Collection will follow on September 4, 2025.
