Giro Next Gen, the Italian race dedicated to young talents in world cycling, will start on June 15, 2025, in Rho and finish in Pinerolo on June 22 after 1,057 km.
The route includes an individual time trial, two stages suited to sprinters, and three medium-mountain stages. Two summit finishes are scheduled at Passo Maniva and Prato Nevoso. 33 teams (14 Italian, 19 international) of five riders each will take part.
With eight stages, spanning a total of 1,057km, and with 14,100m of elevation gain, the Giro Next Gen is organized by RCS Sport on behalf of the Italian Cycling Federation and in collaboration with Italy’s Ministry for Sport and Youth.
The race, dedicated to the best U23 talents in global cycling, will kick off with an individual time trial in Rho on June 15 and finish in Pinerolo on June 22. The eight-stage route is designed to offer opportunities for all rider types.
Key stages for the general classification will be the summit finishes at Passo Maniva (Stage 3) and Prato Nevoso (Stage 7), ahead of the final showdown in Piedmont, with a mountain stage featuring over 2,000m of climbing.

Mauro Vegni, Director of the Giro d’Italia, added “The route has been designed to highlight the strengths of well-rounded riders. We’ve created a balanced course, with an opening time trial, two stages for sprinters, and challenging summit finishes at Passo Maniva and Prato Nevoso.
“Every stage presents an opportunity to shine – this is the perfect terrain to discover tomorrow’s champions. Among the expected contenders is 2024 winner Jarno Widar, but the race is wide open, with major prospects like Norwegian talent Jørgen Nordhagen and junior world champion Lorenzo Finn.
“We’re confident that these young riders will follow in the footsteps of stars like Juan Ayuso and Tom Pidcock, both racing now at the Giro d’Italia.”
