Rudy Project and the Italian Cycling Federation (FCI) have signed a long-term partnership agreement that will see the Italian manufacturer support the federation with its cycling helmets and eyewear until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The technical collaboration covers all disciplines represented by the FCI, with a particular focus on track cycling, where Italy has traditionally been a key player in international competitions.
The agreement was finalized with the contribution of Infront, FCI’s commercial and marketing advisor.
The Italian Cycling Federation is one of the most successful and competitive national teams in the world. Over the past two decades, it has collected around 1,200 medals (including 458 golds), one-third of which – 200 golds – were earned in track cycling alone.
Italian national team athletes will also have access to Rudy Project’s Wingdream and Nytron Pro helmet models, both of which offer aerodynamic efficiency and are for a broad range of riding options for varying disciplines and weather conditions.
Cordiano Dagnoni, President of the Italian Cycling Federation, said “The helmet is the only technical component capable of significantly increasing a cyclist’s safety, particularly on the road.
“Its impact absorption capacity is just as crucial to us as its performance in terms of ventilation and air penetration. We sought a partner that excelled in all three areas, and we are happy to have found one. The fact that it is an Italian company makes us even prouder.”
National Track Team Manager Marco Villa added “The federation is always looking for the best solutions to support our athletes in competitions.
“In a context where track races are won by just a few hundredths of a second, and where a performance improvement of less than 0.5% separates the winner from the runner-up, having a partner that offers top-level aerodynamic products, a wide range of models, first-class assistance, and a strong research division for potential improvements is essential.”
Cristiano Barbazza, CEO and President of Rudy Project, said “We are proud to stand alongside the Italian Cycling Federation on this journey.
“Our mission has always been to innovate in order to support athletes at the highest level, and with the Wingdream, we have reached a new standard of excellence. We are thrilled to make a significant contribution to our national athletes in upcoming international competitions and their pursuit of prestigious goals such as the World Championships and the next Olympic Games.”
Rudy Project’s collaboration with the Italian Cycling Federation adds to its longstanding partnerships with the WorldTour team Bahrain Victorious, cross-country skiing giants Johannes Klæbo and Federico Pellegrino, the sailing team American Magic, and its technical support for various speed skating national teams, including the Italian team for the past 20 years. At the last Beijing Olympics, the company pointed out that 42 medallists competed using Rudy Project products.
