Run Catalina Island expands title sponsorship with Hi-Tec

The Run Catalina Island race series has renewed its partnership with title sponsor Hi-Tec, with Hi-Tec continuing to serve as the series title sponsor through to 2028.

The expansion of Hi-T4c’s sponsorship comes after four years of prior collaboration with the Run Catalina Island race series.

Hi-Tec has also introduced three trail running shoes to highlight the California trail running destination: the Avalon, the Catalina and the Catalina II. These shoes were designed specifically for running on dirt terrain and technical surfaces, just like those found on the Run Catalina Island courses for the Avalon 50, the Catalina Island Marathon and the Catalina Island Half Marathon.

“The Run Catalina Island race series is truly something special, and we want to make sure that we carefully select our partnerships with the series to ensure that they truly benefit the overall experience of those who join us on Catalina Island,” said Mike Bone, President and CEO of Spectrum Sports Management, which produces the Run Catalina Island events.

“Hi-Tec has been an incredible sponsor through the years, and their continued partnership means so much to our events.”

Sara Nunez, Global Brand Director for Hi-Tec, said “Hi-Tec is proud to extend our partnership with Run Catalina Island, an event that perfectly reflects our brand’s spirit of adventure and community. This collaboration has even inspired product innovation, with the Catalina and new Catalina II trail shoes developed for trail-running and spirit of this iconic race.

“As we enter our fifth year together, we remain committed to supporting the runners and the unforgettable experience this race delivers.”

The Hi-Tec sponsorship will expand into the Run Catalina Island’s race challenge, the Hi-Tec Triple Crown on Catalina Island. The challenge involves completing all three Run Catalina Island events within a 12-month period. This includes the Avalon 50K or 50 Mile, Catalina Island Marathon and Catalina Island Half Marathon.

Runners may begin their Catalina Island Triple Crown journey with any one of these races, but all specified distances must be completed within a 12-month period, meaning they must finish all three races consecutively once they begin. Athletes who complete the challenge receive a Hi-Tec Triple Crown on Catalina Island finisher jacket, Hi-Tec shoes and a one-of-a-kind belt buckle.
