Kenyan athletics legend Paul Tergat, an Olympic silver medallist and former marathon world record holder, has announced a long-term partnership with AMG Sport. The collaboration, announced this month, will aim to boost Tergat’s philanthropic, social, and commercial engagements.
AMG Sport is a Switzerland-based executive agency specialising in project management and sports strategy. The main focus of the partnership is supporting the relaunch of the Paul Tergat Foundation, which was originally established in 2005.
Tergat, a five-time World Cross Country Champion, is currently an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member. He is now focused on leveraging his achievements to inspire leadership, champion inclusion, and promote youth development through sport in Africa and internationally.
AMG Sport will deliver strategic management services for Tergat, guiding his professional and speaking engagements, as well as race and brand ambassadorships. It aims to amplify the foundation’s message, promote its initiatives, and increase its international impact.
Paul Tergat said “Running has given me a lot, personally and professionally, and I would like to inspire others to use sport and running as its essential force, for social and economic change.
“I am excited to start this new chapter with AMG Sport and to bring renewed focus to my foundation. Sport has the power to transform lives, and I want to use my experiences to inspire and empower the next generation.”

In Kenya, Tergat also founded the Sport Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA) in 2004, which has become a significant fixture in Kenya’s sporting calendar. The next SOYA Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, in February 2026.
