With the Race 2 and Wing 2, Finnish sports watch brand Suunto has released a new GPS watch and headphones, building on its existing product range.
The Race 2 is a refined version of Suunto’s flagship performance GPS watch. It has been redesigned for improved wearability and functionality, and now has a lighter profile with a larger AMOLED display. The heart rate sensor is also enhanced, and the watch has an updated processor for smoother performance.
The watch’s case uses a combination of durable plastic and metal to reduce weight, making it 65g for composite models and 76g for stainless steel variants. Its battery life extends up to 12 days in daily smartwatch mode and up to 50 hours in GPS mode.
The Suunto Race 2 has over 115 sport modes, including 22 new options, and tools such as ClimbGuidance for elevation management, sport-specific heatmaps, and weather alerts. The Suunto Coach feature provides data-driven training guidance tailored to personal goals.
The second generation Suunto Wing 2 open-ear, bone conduction headphones allow users to stay aware of their surroundings. When used with the Race 2, they can provide real-time voice feedback directly from the watch. The headphones are also waterproof and dustproof and have a battery life of up to 12 hours.
Suunto notes that recent research confirmed that music improves endurance, lowers perceived exertion, and elevates mood, and that synchronizing movement with music can increase time to exhaustion by up to 20%.
