TPC 2.0: The Pro’s Closet back under new ownership

After 18 years of serving the cycling community, The Pro’s Closet (TPC) closed its doors in October 2024. However, the pre-owned bike retailer is now back in business. It has rebuilt its inventory, moved to a new warehouse, and brought back many former employees.

The re-launch of TPC has come via new ownership for the used bike retailer. In late 2024, Elshair Companies acquired the TPC brand and its intellectual property, marking the beginning of a new chapter for ‘the world’s largest and most trusted marketplace for pre-owned bikes.’

With a core team of former employees – including JP Gage as Chief Operating Officer and Justin England as Chief Revenue Officer – TPC 2.0 will continue to buy and sell bicycles online. It will also expand its offering to enable sellers to sell their bikes on consignment.

A release from The Pro’s Closet noted that… ‘TPC’s new consignment offering is designed to maximize payouts to sellers while continuing to provide buyers with the safety and convenience that they’ve come to expect from TPC. Every consignment bike will be thoroughly inspected, refurbished, and certified just like any other TPC bike to ensure that it’s not stolen and is operating in like-new condition.

‘TPC 2.0 will also have a renewed focus on its Dealer TradeUp Program and Dealer Portal in order to give local bike shops a way to help customers trade in their current bikes and ride away on something new. The local bike shop is an essential part of the bike industry, and TPC is eager to help shop owners survive and thrive in this challenging bike market.

‘Finally, TPC 2.0 is committed to right-sizing its cost structure and unwinding many of the excessive expenditures that it made during the Covid bike boom to ensure that the company is around for many years to come.’

“As we look toward the future, our focus is on staying lean, scrappy, and sustainable without compromising the premium experience that we’re known for,” said Jonathan Czaja, CEO of The Pro’s Closet.

“Our Dealer TradeUp program will connect more riders with local shops, and our new consignment option will ensure that cyclists get top value for their bikes. We’ve been given a rare opportunity to reboot this iconic brand, and we look forward to preserving and enhancing this business for everyone who shares our passion for cycling.”

TPC is billed as the world’s largest and most trusted brand for pre-owned bikes – with over 160,000 customers served and 46,000 bikes and e-bikes sold. TPC purchases new and pre-owned bikes and accessories from manufacturers, retailers, and individuals.

Each bike undergoes an inspection and service prior to sale. A Buyback Guarantee gives customers transparency by offering guaranteed trade-in values for 18 months after purchase.
