Zwift rolls out new draft indicator and revamped reporting

Indoor cycling platform Zwift has announced two key updates designed to improve the tactical experience and performance tracking for its global athlete community. The latest game version, 1.104, which began its phased rollout on December 16, 2025, introduces a Draft Indicator and a comprehensive Progress Report screen.

New visual Draft Indicator
The most anticipated feature of the update is the new Draft Indicator, a visual bar located at the bottom of the HUD (heads-up display). This tool provides real-time feedback on the aerodynamic benefit a rider is receiving, replacing the former “Close the Gap” text prompts with a more intuitive graphical interface.

  • Real-time Feedback: The bar expands as the draft benefit increases. In standard conditions, the bar reaches approximately 80% of its width when a rider is in a maximum draft.
  • Maximum Benefit: To reach 100% (the full width of the bar), a rider must be in a full draft while simultaneously activating a Draft Boost PowerUp.
  • Tactical Use: The indicator is designed to help riders fine-tune their positioning in races and group rides. However, it will not appear when using TT bikes or riding behind handcycles, as drafting benefits do not apply in those scenarios.

Revamped Progress Report screen
The update also introduces a redesigned Progress Report screen that appears at the end of every activity. This new interface replaces the previous “Ride Streaks” page and offers a deeper look into an athlete’s career and fitness levels.

Key features include:

  • Fitness Tracking: Building on Zwift’s fitness metrics, the screen displays a Training Status (such as Productive, Fresh, or Overreaching) and a Training Score that accounts for intensity, duration, and frequency.
  • Performance Bests: Zwifters can now see their one-year power bests for 5-second, 1-minute, 5-minute, and 20-minute durations directly on the summary, alongside their current Functional Threshold Power (FTP) and Zwift Racing Score.
  • Career and Equipment Progress: The screen tracks XP gains toward the next level and provides a dedicated progress bar for Bike Upgrades. Every frame in Zwift now features five stages of performance or reward-based upgrades (such as aero improvements or XP bonuses) that are unlocked through distance, elevation, or time.

The update also includes six new route badges for previously event-only courses and adjustments to the “escalators” in the New York map to provide a more balanced experience for riders of different weights.
