New ‘World Tour’ competition from Abbott World Marathon Majors and Marathon Tours & Travel

New 'World Tour' competition from Abbott World Marathon Majors and Marathon Tours & Travel

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, the series organisers have partnered with Official Tour Operator Marathon Tours & Travel to launch a new ‘World Tour’ competition.

The competition prize offers one runner guaranteed entry, accommodation, and on-the-ground support for all six original World Marathon Majors, along with a US$10,000 travel budget.

The winner will receive entry into the Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, TCS London Marathon, BMW Berlin Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and TCS New York City Marathon.

The prize also includes entry to the newly qualified TCS Sydney Marathon, plus potential entries for the Cape Town and Shanghai marathons should their inclusion in the series be confirmed.

The competition focuses on storytelling rather than athletic performance. Applicants are required to post a video on social media answering the question: ‘Why should you go on the World Tour?’ and tag the organisers using the hashtag #WorldTour.

Dawna Stone, CEO of Abbott World Marathon Majors, said “For 20 years, the Abbott World Marathon Majors has celebrated the very best of global marathon running – iconic races, extraordinary cities and inspiring runners. The World Tour competition captures the very essence of that spirit.”

Jeff Adams, President of Marathon Tours & Travel, added “This is the most exciting prize we’ve offered in our 46-year history. To offer one runner guaranteed entry, global travel, full hosting and the chance to experience every World Marathon Major is truly unprecedented.”

The judging panel features content creators and marathon runners Aubrey Mvula and Liz Newcomer. Entries opened on December 16, 2025 and will close on January 9, 2026. The winner is scheduled to be announced on January 23, 2026.
