BMW BERLIN-MARATHON organiser SCC EVENTS has announced a series of new partnerships for the future, focusing on elite sport alongside environmental initiatives ahead of this year’s event on September 27, 2026.

The announcement includes the participation of a marathon world record holder alongside multi-year corporate agreements aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of the event.

Recently, SCC EVENTS announced the participation of marathon world record holder Sabastian Sawe at this year’s BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. In a statement, Sabastian Sawe said “After my victory in London and my performance under two hours, I can only say that I will prepare myself as well as possible, as always, come to Berlin to honour this great event and organisation that invited me, and aim to run as well and as fast as possible.”

In the coming weeks, SCC EVENTS will announce additional top athletes who will also compete in the German capital. Germany’s largest marathon continues to attract strong economic interest as an international event.

Schneider Electric will become the ‘Official Sustainability Partner’ and partner of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. Schneider Electric is an international player in energy technology. According to SCC, it helps to drive efficiency and climate protection through the electrification, automation, and digitalisation of industry, businesses, and buildings. The partnership will focus on sustainability consulting provided by SE Advisory Services, Schneider Electric’s international consulting division.

Mike Hughes, CEO DACH at Schneider Electric, said “The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON provides a major stage – in sport, society, and internationally. Together with SCC EVENTS, we are using this reach to demonstrate how digitalization, electrification, and data-driven sustainability efforts can measurably reduce the environmental footprint of a major event. Sustainability is not a side issue – it is essential to determining how future-proof events of this scale are.”

Christian Jost, CEO of SCC EVENTS, added “The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON is more than just a major event for us – it is an inspiring message to Berlin and to the people who join us in movement every year. When emotion, performance, and community merge at the start line, a unique community emerges, with which we want to responsibly shape our event together. That is exactly why the partnership with Schneider Electric, which has been repeatedly recognized by Time Magazine, Statista, and Corporate Knights as the world’s most sustainable company, is so significant for us.

“It enables us to think of our event not only as bigger and faster, but above all as reliably and sustainably – environmentally, socially, and economically. Together, we want to show that an event of this scale not only inspires people worldwide but also contributes to a livable future.”

From 2026 onward, BRITA has been confirmed as a multi-year co-sponsor of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON as well as the presenting partner of the MARATHON EXPO by BRITA. As a hydration partner, BRITA aims to make a contribution to the event’s more resource-efficient development. This will include refill stations along the course and free filtered water at the EXPO, reducing the number of cups distributed to athletes.

Maren Huth, Vice President Global Brand Strategy at BRITA, said “Running fits our brand perfectly – it is simple, honest, and accessible to everyone, just like water. At the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, we want to make sustainable hydration a natural part of the event: less waste, more responsibility, and a better experience for athletes and fans.”

Christian Jost of SCC EVENTS, added “The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON connects people from all over the world – and at the same time stands for responsibility towards the environment and society. With BRITA, we have a partner who shares our values and works with us to set new standards for sustainable hydration in running sports.”

The official energy bar partner and co-sponsor of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON will be CLIF Bar. Known for its plant-based energy crafted from whole oats and protein, CLIF Bar’s purpose is to fuel participants during the event.

Bianca Harvey, Marketing Director at CLIF, said “We are extremely proud to fuel the participants of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. CLIF Bar is committed to endurance athletes worldwide, and partnering with another iconic marathon is a meaningful next step on that journey.”

SCC’s Christian Jost added “The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON stands for emotion, endurance, and unforgettable personal stories. Together with CLIF Bar, we want to give participants exactly the tailwind they need to experience our marathon with confidence, energy, and pride – and perhaps even push their personal boundaries.”
