The Brownlee Foundation is calling for volunteers to support its upcoming series of mini triathlon events for primary school children in the UK. The non-profit organisation is hosting the events to provide children with a non-competitive and inclusive introduction to swimming, cycling, and running.
The events are designed to encourage young people to try new sports and engage in physical activity. According to the foundation, the event days also serve as an opportunity for corporate employee volunteer programmes.
The volunteer roles are one-day commitments, typically running from 08:30 to 15:00 GMT. Responsibilities include welcoming participants, fitting bikes and helmets, course marshalling, and distributing medals at the finish line.
Volunteers will be provided with a t-shirt, a packed lunch, and refreshments on the day. Each volunteer will receive a full briefing and work alongside an allocated team leader.
The event schedule for the 2026 season includes:
- Monday May 18, 2026 – Leeds (John Smeaton Leisure Centre, LS15 8TA)
- Wednesday May 20, 2026 – York (York Sport Village, YO10 5FG)
- Thursday May 21, 2026 – Hull (Hymers College, HU3 1LW)
- Wednesday June 3, 2026 – Birmingham (Handsworth Wellbeing Centre, B20 2BY)
- Thursday June 4, 2026 – Derby (Moorways Sports Village, DE24 9HY)
- Friday June 5, 2026 – Harrogate (Harrogate Leisure and Wellness Hub, HG1 2RP)

Charis Palmer-Smeaton, Head of Charity at The Brownlee Foundation, said “We’re organising our mini triathlon events for primary school children and are looking for volunteers to join us for a fun day helping children complete their first triathlon.”
The Brownlee Foundation was founded by Olympic triathletes Alistair and Jonny Brownlee to give children positive experiences in sport. Those interested in volunteering can register via the contact form on the foundation website.
