MVC Group, the parent company of cycling apparel brands Castelli and Sportful, has announced the acquisition of its long-standing distribution partner, Wolvenberg.

The transaction establishes MVC Benelux, the group’s ninth international subsidiary, and is aimed at strengthening its direct presence in the Belgian, Dutch, and Luxembourgish markets.

Christof Bergmans, formerly the Sales Director of Wolvenberg, has been appointed as the Benelux Country Head in order to lead the new subsidiary.

The move follows a strong financial year for the Fonzaso, Italy-based MVC Group, which closed 2025 with revenues exceeding €110 million. With its new integrated distribution model, the group is targeting annual revenues of more than €10 million from the Benelux region by 2028, driven by projected double-digit annual growth.

Emilio Foà, CEO of MVC Group, said “I am particularly pleased with the agreement announced today with such a historic and outstanding partner as Wolvenberg. We aim to accelerate the development of our brands in the region by leveraging the new operating structure, which will allow us to seize the opportunities created by evolving market dynamics.”

Mark Heylen, owner of Wolvenberg, founded the distribution business 26 years ago and has partnered with MVC Group brands for nearly three decades.

Mark Heylen said “In recent years, the market has changed profoundly, and I firmly believe that the agreement announced today represents the right decision at the right time. We wanted to ensure maximum continuity. I am confident that the same people, better supported within a solid, scalable and flexible structure, will be able to reach new and ambitious milestones.”

MVC Group, which is backed by the Equinox private equity fund, estimates the global cycling apparel market to be worth approximately US$2.5 billion, with a steady 6% annual growth rate forecast through 2030. In addition to Castelli and Sportful, the Group’s portfolio includes the outdoor brand Karpos and the US-based triathlon specialist Zoot Sports.

Since 2019, the Equinox Fund has held a 40% stake in the group, which operates in 75 countries worldwide, has nine subsidiaries and around 500 employees.
